I loaned a friend money via wwestern union 6 months ago and now she refuses to pay. Can I file a lawsuit here?

6 months ago I loaned a friend of mine money via Western Union. I live in Florida and she lives in NY. Now her and her husband are refusing to repay the loan based on the fact that I told people what the loan was for. Where can I file the lawsuit? I sent the money from Florida where I live. I don’t think I should have to go to NY to recoup my $700.

Unless you guys had a signed contract there is little you can legaly do. Sorry but you might be SOL.

Yes you can if you have the copy slip of the money transfer sent to them. Though at this point the 700 dollars might not be worth it considering what you would have to pay in lawyer fees. You can hire a lawyer and they will take care of the court situation, they would probably have to go to you since that is where the lawsuit was filed….
